Weka

I've never used Weka; in fact I hadn't heard of it until Maureen mentioned it in her colloquim. But Maureen recommended it and it looks pretty solid based on the description on the website. The screenshots look cool, too. Anyway, Weka is some kind of a machine learning toolkit with a pretty user interface.

  • I've used Weka, and it's pretty useful for prototyping. It's quite memory inefficient so you probably wouldn't run it on really big datasets (although I've heard a couple algorithms got an efficient reimplementation). I'e also heard D2K (data 2 knowledge) framework recommended but haven't used it. On Python front, SciPy/Orange can be handy (if you haven't heard of them already).
